AMHERST — Artists of all levels of expertise gathered on the sidewalks of downtown Amherst on April 21 for the Chalk Walk.
The event, hosted by the Amherst Business Improvement District, lasted from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. People were free to come and go as they pleased, leaving behind works of art on the concrete.
The Amherst BID serves the community as a nonprofit economic development organization committed to working with local businesses to improve the atmosphere of Amherst through events and activities.
In tandem with the Chalk Walk was the Dessert Crawl, also co-sponsored by BID along with the University of Massachusetts Amherst sorority Phi Sigma Pi. The proceeds from the event went towards Reader to Reader, an organization dedicated to providing literature to under-resourced school libraries and public libraries across the country.
